CASESTUDY – WESTMINSTER SCHOOL – MANOUKIAN MUSIC CENTRE

AUDIO VISUAL ENHANCEMENT

Projection and Control solution design and installation for international music centre.

“Westminster School have been using DWM for many years,

mainly to provide networking and AV solutions across our various School sites.

During the summer holidays we contracted DWM to upgrade our AV equipment

in our Music Centre. DWM installed a new NEC Laser projector, audio and

hearing loop solution including Kramer AV equipment.”

Objectives

Having undergone a £2.6 million refurbishment, the Manoukian Music Centre in Westminster, a stone’s throw from Westminster Abbey, has been acoustically engineered to provide the optimum music facility.

DWM have a close working relationship with Westminster school and were asked to provide a projector and control solution to enable clear, vivid imagery with easy to use controls. There was a requirement for the control system to be easy to use and multi-functional – for example a single press of a button needed to lower a projector screen, turn the projector on and change it to the active source.

Solution

The control solution chosen, Kramer Control, enabled technicians to check and manage settings / actions remotely: vital in a sprawling site like Westminster. 1st line checks could be remotely actioned before sending out resource, which massively helped streamline Westminster’s IT resourcing. The platform also allowed for a scalable solution to be implemented when the system was rolled out to further class and presentation spaces.

The solution mirrored to a comfort monitor, which made for easy viewing for presenters and conductors, and was controlled via a Kramer Control unit, ensuring stable and precise control over all the solutions functions.

The projector screen housing needed to be made bespoke in high-grade stainless steel to ensure it didn’t clash with the stainless-steel balustrades on the upper level. This ensured a complimentary and unobtrusive aesthetic which only highlighted the modern and inviting space.
