14th June 2010 - DWM Sponsor Three Peaks Yacht Race to help raise money for Willen Hospice

Published: 14 June 2010

DWM are pleased to be supporting Jason Sharp and his Team, The Salty Peaknuts, on their quest to complete this years Three Peaks Yacht Race - Barmouth to Fort William.

"Yes, we really are going to complete the Barmouth to Fort William Three Peaks Yacht Race which combines yachting and mountain running and cycling into one of the greatest adventure challenges in British sport.  The entire race involves a total of 389 miles of difficult coastal sailing, 26 miles of cycling and 72 miles of running, with approximately 14,000 feet of ascent, including 2000 feet between Ennerdale and Scafell Pike, to reach the highest points in Wales, England and Scotland - so we shall really earn our sponsorship money for our nominated chairty Willen Hospice!!

How did it come to this!? Probably Jason recounting his experiences in the 2009 Fastnet race to Tim in the pub and striking his competitive nerve. What could match that in 2010? Time and research gave up to Tim the 3PYR, which surely offers an experience to beat the Fastnet. And so the planning began: all you need is a lean yacht and a couple of iron-men went the thought process. In the end we ditched the iron-men, brought together some good fellows who are up for a challenge (each press-ganged to commit to the deposit whilst pickled at the bar - note the common theme), got training and found a rather more luxurious vessel! Stephen and Jeremy claim to remember a time when they separately ran the London Marathon, although being now in their dotage their carers wonder if this really happened. That said they did lead the team over the line on our recent road race! Our skipper David is local to Wales and familiar with the navigational hazards but otherwise it’s a novice team that fancies it has an outsider’s chance of the trophy, failing which the glory of just finishing will do!"

Published: 08 June 2010

DWM are delighted to have been recognised for our fantastic achievements and forward thinking ideas through our Solutions4Schools campaign, following a recent visit from the Mayor of Bedford, Mr Dave Hodgson.

Our Solutions4Schools campaign was designed to help School's raise additional money through various means. We offer schools valuable knowledge to help them understand their networking issues and requirements and help them build towards a solid and reliable solution to allow for future expansion at the minimum of cost and disruption.

We also reward any School wishing to use our installation services a 1% reward in National Book Tokens to give them additional funds to purchase essential books and book related equipment.

We also hold an Annual Fundraising Event to which all proceeds are donated to a local School. Our Annual Fundraising Event this year will be held on Friday 17th September and Mr Hodgson is hopeful that he will be able to attend.

DWM, like Mr Hodgson, are fully supportive of enhancing and improving School facilities and we are keen to work together to introduce forward thinking and cutting edge technologies to improve our Bedfordshire Schools.

16th November 2009 - DWM receive heartfelt thanks from Alban Middle School

Published: 01 December 2009

We are delighted to have received correspondence from the Headteacher at Alban Middle School who have offered us their "heartfelt thanks for our incredibly generous gift of £1,682.71".

The School are delighted to be the recipients of our fundraising day held on 23rd October 2009 at 'The Bedford' Golf Club, Great Denham. They have confirmed that all the money will be used directly on resources that will enhance and enrich the children's experiences at Alban through a variety of means.

"Firstly, the children organise for themselves play equipment to use at lunchtimes. They have a store area on the playground and children take on the role of playground leaders and organise the distribution of the equipment which helps to make recreation times more enjoyable for them. They had been asking if they could fundraise to buy new equipment and replace that which is broken and we are delighted to be able to tell them that they can do that now, thanks to your kind donation.

The School Council are currently asking for suggestions as to what the children would like to play with and will then let us have a list of their suggestions. They are very excited by this and their lunch breaks will provide much more fun and excitement than previously!

We are aware of the difficult financial climate the families in our communities are facing and because of this, curriculum enhancement opportunities have been reviewed because of the cost to parents. Because of your donation, we can provide this curriculum enhancement which the children always love without asking parents to contribute. This will greatly enrich the children's education and enable us to support parents at this difficult time."

We at DWM are very proud of our successful achievement in our first year of fundraising and we encourage all Schools in Bedfordshire to get involved next year to allow them the chance of receiving our funds that will hopefully be even greater next year.

23rd October 2009 - DWM raise almost £1700.00 for Alban Middle School

Published: 28 October 2009

We are pleased to announce that our first fundraising event was a huge success. Our day began at "The Bedford" Golf Club with breakfast and a round of golf, followed by some great entertainment by Geoff Swain (Trick Shot Champion) and a lovely 3 course meal. With thanks to the golf course for their tremendous support we were able to raise almost £1700.00 from the sale of drinks, snacks, raffle tickets and auction bids throughout the day.

A huge thanks to all of our Customers and Staff who supported us on the day and donated generously, and also a special thanks to those Companies who donated prizes for our raffle and auction to include Fulham FC, BSS Recruitment, Touchstone Electronics and "The Bedford" Golf Club.

We hope that you all had a wonderful day and due to its great success we hope that we will be able to make this an annual event.

The lucky winner from our Entrance Draw was Alban Middle School, Great Barford. Unfortunately they were unable to attend on the day to collect their cheque but we have been able to arrange a meeting with the Head Teacher in order to present our cheque to them for almost £1700.00.

Once again, thank you for all your support and we look forward to seeing you again next year!
